Mapping interactions between sustainable development and heatwave resilience

Abstract Urgent action is needed to ensure the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) by 2030. Under climate change intensity and frequency heatwaves are projected increase urgent also improve heatwave resilience now in future. Yet, it remains unclear how countries planning implementing policies actions for this happen. Interactions between SDGs have been widely researched. However, little known about interactions resilience. In response, study focuses on mapping such interactions. This mixed methods design with a diverse group stakeholders from different sectors society identified key interactions, sources solutions achieving both agendas. The analysis revealed that: (i) synergies largely outweigh trade-offs; (ii) broad compatibility exists two agendas; (iii) no fundamental incompatibilities were found, and; (iv) agendas not being consistently aligned. These findings essential parallel effective enhance reduce trade-offs. A series which can be implemented. Such integrated approaches would success overall performance improving collaborations, using common language, regulation planning, pooling resources, skills, inclusive information translation practice.
